Grocery Store Book : One Pawsome Christmas


This Paw Patrol book is a magnet book it comes with nine magnets that are able to stick to the pages. The book is interactive and young children can create their own story or holiday scene. However, there isn’t much of a storyline because kids are creating the story. The graphics within the book are okay, they are not completely horrible! (It was hard to find a grocery store book with bad quality because almost every book was in decent shape!) so I went with the one that didn’t really have much excitement or in this case much quality. I felt the focus is more so on the gimmick of having those magnets and not on the story itself. The characters aren’t really introduced, so if you don’t know the paw patrol can be hard to follow. The scenery can be considered bland and not as exciting or captivating as one would hope.
I didn’t really like the book because there isn’t much to it besides adding those magnets. The main focus for the young child would be those magnets and magnets stick to multiple things so those magnets would probably not end up on the book! so I feel it takes away from the book itself. However, it does allow the child to be creative and to make up their own story each time! It wouldn’t be good for a teaching book because there isn’t any important or quality lessons, but it would be a good distraction book to keep them slightly busy.
I would rate this book a 3 out of 4 star’s although it may not be as flimsy it still lacked that good quality.

    I can see how the concept of a magnet book would attract young children. I'ts sad that the story line was lacking and was not more educational. Great review!

The book also comes with an informative glossary that includes sea facts! it’s a great combination of geometry, science, art and reading.  The illustration is super fun, super colorful (Bright and vibrant colors of the ocean and who doesn't love the ocean!?) and the book is super simple....

Informational Text #2: A Ticket Around the World

This book is super cute and super informative! from the minute you open up the book you are presented with this fairly large colorful map marked with the countries you will be visiting showing how special each country is and how exciting it will be to learn about that country as a reader. The story line focuses on a boy (Narrative perspective) who visits his friends in thirteen different countries (Canada=Cara, Brazil=Fernanda, U.S=Eddie, Costa Rica=Alberto, France=Leonie, Morocco=Malak, Greece=Constantinos, Jordan=Haneen, China= Xiao, India=Meena, Botswana=Poloko, Philippines=Marilou, and Australia=Joe) As a reader you are taken on this journey around the world and learning about the food, the language, the landmarks, the cultural events, traditions, wildlife etc. For example the boy visited Costa Rica, some fact’s that were presented was “ Costa Rica is a small country in Central America with over 4.5 million people.” The boy is visiting his friend Alberto who lives on a farm near ...

Picture Book #1 A classic : The Lorax

The Lorax written by Dr. Seuss is a such a classic! (One of my favorite picture books) The book consists of rhyming verses, beautifully illustrated pictures and the message of how important it is to take care of your environment. The Lorax is the keeper of the beautifully colored Truffula trees. the Once-ler (entrepreneur) then begins to produce thneeds (which have multiple use's) out of these Truffula trees and once he sees he is making profit he becomes greedy. The once-ler begins chopping a small number of trees down, but when he realizes that more and more people are buying the thneeds he expands the business by building a factory and producing a machine that will chop down huge number of trees. The Lorax who speaks on behalf of the trees warns the Once-ler that this will cause serious harm.
